Bailey

Bailey is a rough coated lurcher who was found wandering in March. He was handed over to Cheadle Animal Welfare Society by a family who found him. He was far too elderly to be in kennels so he went to live with Diane at Greyhounds and Golden Oldies. He is probably 15 plus and has perhaps been a working dog. Lots of his toes are splayed and some are bent. Xrays revealed that, in the past, he has suffered lots of fractures to them. These fractures had not been treated and so had fused leaving some of his toes deformed. He must, over the years, have suffered a great deal of pain. His teeth were also in a pretty terrible state, he was underweight with a skin complaint (possibly mange) and a hormonal problem. Cheadle & District Animal Welfae Society paid for his initial veterinary care as GGO’s funds have taken a bit of a dip. Bailey is so grateful to be there and settled in immediately. He is the most wonderful old fellow who ‘talks’ quite a lot when he gets excited. He also insists on sleeping in the bedroom with them even though getting to the top of the stairs each night is a bit of a challenge. Dians says it is extremely rewarding to be able to give a loving comfortable home to an elderly dog making whatever time they have left as happy and carefree as possible. He is pictured above with Billy- also one of Cheadle Animal Welfare ex lovely oldies plus many more friends he lives with- all enjoying their lives now.
