Sunday 19th April – Fun Dog Show at Doveleys Garden Centre

well doen butch you are a star- winner of best rescue- male dog

Well what an absolutely great day our first dog show of the year was. Very many thanks go to Doveleys Garden Centre for letting us use their grounds, to Karen Landon for organising it so well and to Oscar Pet Foods for sponsoring it.Special thanks must go to the judges who had the most difficult of all jobs!!! All the dogs…. and there were many of them, were fantastic and so well behaved- how difficult to select from so many lovely dogs.

Thanks to everyone who came along and supported the event. It was a great turnout, We raised over £640 for Cheadle & District Animal Welfare Society funds through class entry fees, donations, raffles and our stalls. Everyone seemed to have a great time too which made it a brilliant day all round.

We were delighted at seeing so many of ‘our ‘ ex dogs. There were many of them and it would be wrong to name some and not all as we love them all, but a special mention must go to Gordon who put in a guest appearance! How great they all look and clearly so happy with their new families. What success stories they all are. They are fantastic ambassadors and role models and show just how wonderful rescue dogs are at enriching owners lives too.

We were so pleased with Butch, Blake and Melody. These are dogs currently in our care who are looking for new homes. Melody enjoyed the experience and took it all in by watching whereas Blake and Butch entered a number of classes and didn’t half make the most of it. They showed themselves off fantastically (thanks to their wonderful walker friends). They were so well behaved and clearly enjoyed every minute. Butch won ‘Best male in the Best rescue’ class and Blake was placed 4th in ‘The dog with the waggiest tail’ and also 4th in ‘The dog the judge would most like to take home’ classes.

A few photos are included here- not particularly clear unfortunately but gives you a flavour of the day! A nice one is included of Ebony, reflecting on her third place in Best Rescue Dog after she had got back home!

Good photos will appear on Ian Dakin Photography’s face book page at the end of the week. So take a look there-  https://www.facebook.com/iandakinphotography.

The judges Bryan and Jo Hill have sent a message to say they had a really happy and enjoyable time judging Cheadle Animal Welfare’s latest Dog show at
Doveleys Garden Centre on Sunday 19th April. They said ‘All dogs were extremely
well presented and in fabulous health and condition, a real credit to
their owners. Especially difficult to judge was the rescue class as all
had different stories to tell, making the decisions so emotional. So
many thanks to all who organised and took part in such a lovely event’.
