If you could spare a thought about how to help the lovely cats and dogs that will still be in our care over Christmas we would really appreciate it. A few things to consider are detailed below.
Also important to mention is that Hazel and her team at The Nose Bag Cafe & Pets Corner in Foston (Tel: 07542 114103. No 43 Uttoxeter Road, Foston, Derbyshire. DE65 5PX) are holding another Christmas raffle for us. There are some brilliant prizes. If you are in the area its well worth a visit for a cuppa and piece of cake and to please buy a raffle ticket while you are there. Take the children to see the pets corner too. Check the opening hours. The gorgeous Roxy and Casper are ‘looking after’ the prizes! The raffle will be drawn on the 23rd December.

A huge thank you to Nikki Bill from Rugeley for organising a Christmas collection of goodies for the Waifs and Strays. She and her sister, Claire arrived this morning (17th Dec) with a car load of cat and dog food, treats, biscuits, toys, blankets, coats, harnesses and beds which had been donated following an appeal on her Facebook page. The waifs and strays are delighted and can’t wait to get started playing with the squeaky toys and tucking into the delicious food.

It also includes information if you go shopping online. You can register with ‘easyfund raising’ or ‘Give as You Live’ websites and then each time go to your chosen retailers websites via those links and we automatically receive a donation from the retailers- with no cost to you!
Co-op Local Community Fund
We have been selected to receive funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund until the end of March 2017. It means that we will get a contribution towards helping our waifs and strays every time you shop if you have selected us as your cause- but we need your help. The more support we get, the more funding we could receive. So if you’re a Co-op Member please log in to your Co-op Membership account and choose us. Sponsorship of one of our Sponsor dogs or cats also makes a nice gift. We will send you (or the person you are gifting it to if directed to do so) a sponsorship certificate and a home made fridge magnet with your chosen cat or dog’s photo on it- nothing fancy, but a token of our appreciation. We want your sponsorship money to go towards the care of the animals and not on expensive gifts or on the issue of regular magazines.This does make a nice, caring gift for someone, especially at Christmas and for birthdays. https://www.cheadleanimalwelfare.org.uk/sponsor-a-dog-or-cat/
You can ‘ give a dog or cat a dinner’ by giving £1 and then selecting a cat or dog’s name from one of the sheets that are dotted around the area (located in E + E furniture stores, Cheadle and Lime Trees Veterinary Surgery, Tean Rd, Cheadle) or held by our volunteers. A winning name will be selected off each sheet and a prize given.

Bedding is also really useful for us to pass onto the kennels where we pay to board the dogs. Old duvets (no feather ones please!) or blankets and towels are most welcome this weather. Please contact us if you have anything.
