Zara

Zara Feb

Zara was only one year old when she came into our care and had clearly had a very difficult start to her life- at least two previous owners and had obviously already had puppies. She hated being in kennels and became stressed and lost a lot of weight. She was lucky to gain a lovely foster home for ten weeks but it then became very apparent that she is quite frightened by men in certain situations particularly in an enclosed environment and barks constantly if they move! So being in a busy household which also operated as a work place with frequent male visitors was too much for her and she returned to kennels. Goodness knows what she had experienced in her early life.

Luckily she fairly quickly gained a new foster home as she was already becoming very poorly again. Thankfully this home soon turned into her permanent home! She has blossomed and is now quite a robust, confident, happy girl who seems to be at last having her childhood! She is a little rascal at times and things are often found in places they shouldn’t be and the peg bag is rapidly diminishing but she is such a lovely little girl!

She is still worried by men in enclosed spaces but is getting better with very familiar faces and walking or generally going out and about, shopping, eating out etc is fine as long as men ‘ignore’ her which is a shame as everyone wants to love her but thankfully everyone so far has been very understanding! One day she will ‘get there’, treats work wonders!
