Can you help Norman by providing him with a foster or permanent home?

We need to find a foster or permanent home for Norman, a gorgeous but very shy ginger cat.

Here’s Norman’s story. It is rather a long story so be warned!

Every week from June to November 2022 Margaret visited a property to catch a large number of cats, most of which are ginger, to get them neutered and then return them. She managed to catch most of them but not all. Then in February 2023 one of the unneutered ginger toms was brought to our attention as he was dragging one of his back legs and he had nasty sores on the back of his foot and his elbow. We managed to catch him and get him to Lime Trees Cat Clinic in Cheadle. He had X Rays which revealed that surprisingly, there were no broken bones. He does, however have damage to his cruciate ligament so that he has difficulty in walking. It doesn’t seem to bother him too much, thankfully.

During his stay at the Cat Clinic he had to be handled each day to get the wounds treated, medication to be given and K Laser used to try to speed up the recovery. It was found that he had 2 infections in his wounds so antibiotics were prescribed. Handling was kept to a minimum to try to reduce his stress.

The cat was called Norman, but he just didn’t trust anybody. He was literally terrified. He hissed and tried to melt into the treatment table in the hope that no one could see him, but he showed no aggression. While at the Cat Clinic we got Norman neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.

Vet Nurse Amy who was Norman’s main carer, developed a soft spot for him and of course took him home. Gradually Norman started to trust Amy . He still doesn’t like to be handled, but he absolutely LOVES a fuss and being groomed. He purrs, dribbles and kneads his blanket with sheer delight and has even started to come up to Amy when she goes into the room.

He has been with Amy now for several weeks, but after mid May Amy will be unable to care for Norman any longer, so we need to find ‘another Amy’.

There is no way that Norman can go back to live with the colony of cats where he came from so we are hoping to find someone to look after him. He will continue to need cage rest for quite some time and his new home must be one where there are no young children. The person caring for Norman needs to have the time and patience to work with Norman to build up his trust, just like Amy did. What we are hoping to find is a ‘Cat Mad’ person.

Anyone willing to help Norman will be given all the help and advice that they may need. He is such a special young cat to so many people and we want to do the very best we can to help him. Whoever looks after Norman will have a friend for life and it will be one of the best things you will ever do.

Could you care for Norman or do you know of anyone who could? We do hope so.
If you can help please ring 01335 390369 so we can have a chat and arrange for you to visit Norman.

We look forward to your call and have everything crossed that someone will be able to help this lovely boy. ❤️
