Help Us

Roxie JuneThere are many ways you can help Cheadle & District Animal Welfare. Rehoming or fostering a cat or dog would be great but we know that not everyone can do that!

We value and welcome your support in whatever way you can provide it. The following list gives a few ideas on how you can help us but it is no way exhaustive. If you have any ideas or can offer something else that will help the animals, please do contact us – we would love to hear from you.

See also local newspapers, particularly the Cheadle Post & Times weekly newspaper for details of some of the cats and dogs for adoption plus events as we arrange them. Also check the events section of the website.

For more information on any of the below, please email cheadleanimalwelfare@hotmail.co.uk or call 01335 390369.

Rehoming or Fostering an Animal

To view the animals for adoption or foster, please visit our rehoming section.

When fostering, we provide the food, equipment and will pay the vet’s bills (must be our approved vets) until a new permanent home can be found. Fostering one of our animals gives them the best possible chance of finding a new forever home. It potentially makes it an easier and less stressful transition for the animal to move into their new home from a foster home environment rather than spending all their time with us in kennels.

Make a Donation

Visit our donate page to read about the different ways you can give to the Society – some at no cost to you!

Volunteer as a Dog Walker

Currently we do not require dog walkers sorry.  We need you to be aged over 18 years and able to commit to walk the dogs on a regular basis. Please contact us for more info and to arrange your first visit to the kennels.

Helping out with Store and Street Collections

We hold regular collections across the district and could always use an extra pair of hands.

Donate Unwanted Items

These could include woollies, blankets, toys, bowls, towels (not duvets or pillows sorry) for the catteries, or unopened cat food. Blankets are always most welcome so please do contact us whenever you have any to spare!

There are Cheadle & District Animal Welfare food collection bins inside Morrisons Supermarket, Cross Street Pet Stores in Cheadle and Pets at Home, Uttoxeter. Or you can contact us to make alternative arrangements.

Recycle4Charity2

Recycle4Charity is a free and easy to use ink recycling programme, that helps its thousands of members raise funds for charity and non-for-profit organisations. Cheadle & District Animal Welfare Society is now registered with them.

So please do not throw away your old ink cartridges! If you obtain a postage free envelope from Recycle4charity and post the old cartridge to them we will receive a donation from them. You can send several in one go too!

Its a simple process. Please visit their website https://www.recycle4charity.co.uk/ to see what you do and select Cheadle & District Animal Welfare Society – C101608 when selecting your chosen charity!

Thank you.  Every donation means a lot to us.

Why not assist us with marketing activities such as leaflet distribution and putting up posters etc.

Competitions & Merchandise

Buy our raffle tickets, pens or other one off items such as Calendars that we produce at various times during the year. These are usually available from E & E Furniture Stores, Cheadle High Street and Lime Trees Veterinary Surgeons, Tean Road, Cheadle. Also sold at monthly sales and events.

Join our ‘50/50 club’

The lucky winner of the December draw won £108. The more people that join the higher the prize money will be.

If you would like to join, have another number or maybe get one as a present for a friend the cost is just £12 for each number you choose from the ones available and that is for 12 months. Email us at cheadleanimalwelfare@hotmail.co.uk or tel : 01335 390369.

A draw is held each month.

Numbers can also be bought from E & E Furniture Stores, Cheadle or just contact us.

Spread the Word

Spread the word about the Cheadle & District Animal Welfare Society and all of the lovely animals that need loving homes. Encourage people wanting a new pet to consider giving a home to a rescue animal. Advise them to look at our animals and those of other animal rescue centres too!

Notify us of Lost & Found Pets

Notify us of any lost cats and dogs – we record missing animals from further afield too. Also, please let us know when they are found. We can put their details onto our facebook page and website.

Online Selling

If you are able to help with online selling in the absence of us being able to hold our local monthly sales we would welcome hearing from you!

Thank you for your help!

*** Work Experience Placements***

We often get asked if we can provide placements as part of work experience programmes. Unfortunately as we do not have our own kennels or cattery we are unable to help with this. Sorry!
