We have now set up a Give as you Live Fundraiser page for Rio the French Bulldog.

Now that he’s in our care we can see all the problems he must have been having for a long time and all because of his very flat face. His foster Mum says ‘he’s so loving and clever, but he is really struggling with his breathing, the poor little mite.’ He’s getting on well with the other 2 dogs in the household and just loves to play with his toys. He seems to prefer to sleep sitting up as he can’t get his breath when he lies down. He is really relaxed though now in his foster home and doing well with all the love and support he is getting.

This afternoon Rio has visited the vet again to discuss all the issues which have been noticed. He has been given medication to help with his sickness and his BOAS surgery is booked for 17th January, by which time it is hoped he will have put on a little more weight and built up his muscles.

Here is the link to our Give as You Live Fundraiser. Please share with your family and friends if you think they will be able to help us fund Rio’s surgery which is going to cost £3,000.

Please help Rio if you can.

Many thanks

UPDATE ON RIO
Two year old Rio has had his BOAC surgery today 17th January (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) to help with his breathing – his nostrils are much wider and he’s had a good chunk of tissue removed from the back of his throat; he has also been neutered.

He is back home with his foster family and is doing well – he’s had his medication and over the next few days will be enjoying a diet of tuna, scrambled egg and rice! For now though, he is having plenty of rest and TLC.

Donations to help pay for Rio’s surgery would still be appreciated via the Give as you Live link above or you can leave a donation in an envelope at Cross Street Pet Stores, Cheadle. Please mark your envelope ‘For Rio’s Surgery’

Thank you and a very big thank you to everyone who has already donated. It is greatly appreciated.
